Seasonal transition: how to remain stylish from Winter to Spring

Spring is by far the best time of year. We come out of hibernation to bask in the warmth of the sun. How is it when we are so tremendously happy to get up and get outdoors, it takes so long to get ready to leave!?! Dressing for Sprinter (the transitional weeks from Winter to Spring) can be the most challenging time of the year. Here are some tips to help you stylishly make the transition:

Put away the heavy stuff: We know there is a strong chance we will get one more snow fall but even if we do, we wouldn't put on our heaviest coat. One of the best parts of Spring is shedding our buffalo coats in favour of lighter wear. Down, heavy wool and ski jackets can hibernate over the next few months.

For Spring, bring out your classic trench, and your lightweight coats for your outings. Think you'll be too cold? Check out tips on layering below!

Add a pop of Spring colour - In the sun there is nothing that looks better than colour. Use accessories like a coral pashmina or a yellow bag to brighten up your conservative winter wear. One piece of brightly coloured clothing is the perfect way to breathe new life into your wardrobe.

Layers: let me say it again - LAYERS! This is the single most important thing for you to remember when heading out for an unpredictable day of Spring flowers and Spring showers! The temperature can be a bit of a roller coaster. Enjoy the ride using camis paired with cute preppy cardigans or last season's staying piece - the boyfriend blazer.

Footwear - Wellington boots are fantastic and fun. There are so many prints, patterns and colours to choose from, you can really express yourself. Although they may feel frivolous, they are supremely practical for Spring showers and puddle jumping! Give your winter boots a break. Leather doesn't do well in the wet anyway. And please, pack away your UGGS!

Don't rush the season - It is so wonderful when the forecast no longer includes a windchill factor. But don't get carried away! Resist the urge to put on all the new Spring trends all in one day. Pair one spring trend with your existing winter wear e.g. cropped pants, layered cami and cardigan paired with open toe boots.

Even though the sun feels 'hot' don't confuse Spring with Summer. Leave your sandals, tank tops and shorts packed away until mid May. That being said - let the sun shine in. Hooray for SPRING!
